Gray makes bright start
Sixteen year old apprentice jockey Shane Gray partnered his second career winner, and his first at his local Dundalk, when steering the Tommy Stack trained Celerina to win the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap this evening.
Gray, a Champion Pony Racing Rider last year, partnered his first winner at The Curragh on March 20 and followed up on Celerina here, winning well from Primalova
However, the runner-up was subsequently disqualified as her rider, Gary Philips, failed to weigh in. The 10lbs claimer was subsequently suspended for five days.
After the win, Stack’s son Fozzy Stack stated “that’s another good win for Shane and he had plenty of support today. Celerina’s options are limited in this country as she doesn’t get any further than five furlongs.”
