King Of Gosford came with a well-timed surge to land the spoils in the seven-furlong nursery at Dundalk for Andy Oliver.
The Zoustar gelding went to post a well backed 5/2 favourite and finished off best under Billy Lee.
He grabbed Courageous Strike close home to record a neck victory in the colours of Trevor Dalzell.
“We were a bit disappointed at the Curragh (finished seventh) but we just thought it was ground,” said Oliver.
“He's a genuine fast ground horse and is a lovely moving horse so we just saved him for here.
“It looks like he wanted every yard of that and I think he wasn't doing an awful lot either. Hopefully that means there is a bit more in the tank and we'll look for something else up here.
“He got a nice clean run and it looks like he'll get the mile. I think he has toe enough for seven though and Billy said that too.”
