Well-bred mare Mary Frances registered a 25/1 win under Sean Flanagan in the opening Book Online At www.limerickraces.ie Mares Maiden Hurdle at Greenmount Park today.
The successful five-year-old daughter of Well Chosen is a half-sister to a Grade 1 horse in Jazz Messenger, and here on outing number three she contained the challenge of Strike Is Back up the run-in by half a length.
Martin Hassett has care of Mary Frances for John O'Mahony and he said: "Ye might be shocked but I'm not as her run at Clonmel (hurdles debut) was a good education and she never missed a beat today.
"She's only a pony and it's at Dingle she should be! She is small and you'd be half embarrassed coming here but I was very positive after her run the last day.
"She is a Mini with a Ferrari engine - she is small but is tough and genuine and is related to Jazz Messenger. She wants that ground."
