Go It Alone justified strong support in style on his handicap debut when taking the Killinan Handicap Hurdle in runaway fashion at Thurles.

A point-to-point winner at Laurencetown before switching to hurdles this winter after an absence of well over a year, the Oscar gelding relished this step back up in trip to 2m6f.

The Colin Bowe-trained seven-year-old was available at 20/1 this morning before being cut to half those odds, and was eventually sent off at just 7/1.

Mikey Fogarty ’s mount asserted early in the straight, and cruised clear to beat The Grey Guy by an effortless eight lengths.

The 9/4 favourite Luckyinmilan was a further two and a half lengths away in third, with The Pine Martin fourth.

Bowe said, "The step up in trip helped and he won his point to point on similar ground. He handles winter ground and will go for something similar next. He may be a nice horse in time."

The successful Neveronyourown Syndicate comprises Bowe and three Galway men.
