A generous pace turned the Patrickswell Handicap Chase turned into a gruelling test of stamina and in the end the winner Glorious Galway (5/1) was one of only two horses to complete the course.
The Westerner gelding led a mile out under Johnny Barry and kept going well in the straight to score by 15 lengths from Classic Concorde (6/1). Moscowsowhat was held in third when taking a tired fall two out and the remainder of the field were pulled up.
The winner has a good record at the course as winning trainer Declan McNamara explained: “He won here in Christmas 2018 and he was third in this race two years ago.
"One of the syndicate members Phil Callaghan passed away and we'll dedicate this win to him."
