Giovanni Canaletto strides clear for Seamie Heffernan

With Ruler Of The World retired just this week, his full-brother Giovanni Canaletto recorded a timely and very decisive victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C & G) Maiden at Leopardstown.
Boylesports reacted by trimming his odds for next year’s Investec Derby to 20/1 (from 33/1) as the Aidan O’Brien-trained son of Galileo stretched clear in the final furlong of this mile event.
Seamie Heffernan’s mount, the 4/7 favourite, benefitted from his Navan debut earlier this month drawing right away to beat Alcatraz by six and a half lengths.
Another Ballydoyle colt Los Barbados put in some good work on debut in the closing stages to take third.
Heffernan said, “He’s completely asleep. When he got a bit of light he woke up as if to say what do you want me to do. I gave him a crack and he went right away.
“He’s doing it so easy at home. We like him.”
