Leading owner Michael O'Leary has had a Christmas bonanza and registered his 18th winner of the four-day festive spell with Eleazar Des Neiges landing the Ryans Cleaning Event Specialists Maiden Hurdle at Limerick today for trainer Henry De Bromhead and jockey Hugh Morgan.
The lowly race was confined to horses which had not finished first, second or third from at least three previous runs but nonetheless attracted many leading owners and trainers.
O'Leary's Gigginstown House Stud owned Eleazar Des Neiges was joined by the Gordon Elliott trained Zambezi Fix running in the colours of the Cheveley Park Stud while Champion Trainer Willie Mullins ran the John Magnier owned K'Chou Du Pecos Aa.
In the race Eleazar Des Neiges proved two and a half lengths too strong fro runner-up La Feline with 2/1 favourite Zambezi Fix managing just fourth and K'Chou Du Pecos Aa fifth.
Winning trainer De Bromhead was at Leopardstown where Cobbler's Way won a maiden hurdle and following Eleazar Des Neiges win, jockey Morgan reported “he jumped and travelled super and galloped the whole way to the line. He is improving all the time.”
