A Great View finished off his race very strongly to mow down Attribution in the two mile rated novice hurdle that got Punchestown's card under way.

Barry Geraghty 's mount looked booked for fourth place in this five-runner contest as Attribution kicked for home before the last.

However, Denis Cullen's four-year-old gelding made rapid headway on the outer to challenge Attribution at the final flight. He landed in the lead and stayed on stoutly to score by a length.

Attribution rallied on the run-in but had to settle for second at 3/1. The winner, in the JP McManus colours, was returned the 9/4 favourite.

Denis Cullen said: "He's progressing and has done well since he won at Limerick. He's only four and should do well with time.

"We'll tip away quietly and he's a nice horse to have in the yard. He needs to step up again but we'll take small steps at the moment and see where that takes us."

This was A Great View's third run. He had been third in a Ballinrobe hurdle before winning his maiden by seven and a half lengths at Limerick last month.
