Barry Geraghty and Gordon Elliott proved yet again to be a formidable pair when claiming the Mullingar Beginners Chase with 5/1 shot Mayo Abbey

Geraghty took up the lead travelling well before three out and the pair kicked clear from the back of the last to record a five length success.

Winning trainer Elliott said afterwards: “That was great we needed a bit of luck after the other lad [Nedzer’s Return 4/7 favourite finished second earlier in the day].”

“We’ll keep him on the go now, he’s a Summer chaser and he has plenty of pace.”
