Gamble landed by Indian
On his first start in handicap company Indian Landing ran out a convincing winner of the Follow Sligo on Facebook Handicap over six furlongs, for his trainer Tracey Collins with Ronan Whelan aboard.
In the colours of Herb Stanley, the son of Barathea had three ordinary maiden efforts to his name before today.
However on his first start over six furlong he took up the lead two and a half furlongs out and kept on well from there to score by an easy seven lengths.
Having opened at 6/1 this morning, the winner was well supported and sent off the 7/2 joint second favourite with Missile Command who fared best of the rest for Jane Foley with Danny Benson aboard. Draoicht completed the placings a further two lengths back in third at 14/1 while the 3/1 favourite for Ger Lyons and Johnny Murtagh, Suspect Device could only manage a very disappointing seventh of the eight runners.
Winning trainer Tracey Collins said afterwards: "I'm delighted with that, especially since his owner Mr Stanley is here today.
"My horses weren't well earlier in the year, but this horse showed us the ability he had been showing us at home here today.
"Ronan gave him a lovely ride."
Subsequently, Johnny Murtagh, rider of the favourite Suspect Device, reported to the Stewards that his mount choked during the race. He was also found to be blowing hard post race.
