Buildmeupbuttercup owed Paul Townend a winner following the mare's recent Galway Hurdle defeat but supplied the Champion Jockey with the second leg of a double for his employer Willie Mullins at Killarney today, in the Listed GMHD Hurdle.
Townend picked Buildmeupbuttercup to ride in the Galway Hurdle on August 2 but the pair managed just fifth behind Mullins' winner Aramon, whom Townend turned down.
Today the daughter of Sixties Icon easily justified 8/13 favouritism when winning eased down, by three and a quarter lengths, from Dollys Destination
The race was marred by the death of the John Kiely trained Penny Out which fell at the second last flight.
