Fresh By Nature (12/1) came with a tremendous late rattle after the last to collar 10/11 favourite Zemario and win going away by a length and a quarter.
Favourite backers were counting their money, but hadn’t reckoned on Jessica Harrington’s mare flying home in this Kerry Foods two mile maiden hurdle.
“She is fresh by nature! They went real quick and she was flat out. She got to the second last and hit top gear. She’s only had three runs and is still improving. She’s no world beater, but she’s tough and tries,” jockey Mark Bolger said.
It was eight lengths back to Lord Of Isenay in third at 7/2. Zemario had been well-backed from 7/4 this morning before going off at 10/11.
The winning time of 3m56.60 was almost four seconds quicker than the opening maiden hurdle on the card also over two miles.
