Fred comes good in style
Fred Fenster ended a frustrating sequence of placed efforts in no uncertain terms when taking the Follow Cork Racecourse On Facebook Maiden in very impressive fashion.
The Eddie Lynam-trained gelding had filled minor placings on his six previous starts but seemed to relish the rain-softened ground here over the extended mile.
Keagan Latham 's mount, backed from 11/2 into 9/2, struck the front over a furlong out and soon stretched clear to beat Loch Ard (7/1) by a yawning seven and a half lengths. Ansaab held every chance but the 11/10 favourite had no answer to the winners finishing kick and finished another length and three quarters back in third.
Latham said, “He's one of those horses that just loves that loose ground, and hopefully he can go on from here.”
