Ocean Bright scored a fourth hurdle success for trainer Dermot McLoughlin in the Ladies Day At Kilbeggan Handicap Hurdle at Kilbeggan this evening, also proving a fourth winner of the new season for jockey Conor Maxwell. Jabus was well clear for most of the race but fell at the third last flight when holding a four lengths lead over the closing winner. From there Ocean Bright battled well to eventually hold on in a thrilling finish for a nose win over Miss Penny Pincher
The Stewards held an enquiry into interference on the run-in between Miss Penny Pincher and third placed Coosan Belle but left the result unchanged.
McLaughlin later said “when the other horse came to her she battled well. She likes a little dig in the ground so I was worried coming here today but Kilbeggan have done a great job with their watering. I have twenty horses riding out at the moment.”
