Fourth Derby win for Nina

Nina Carberry recorded her fourth win in the Thalgo Ladies Derby Handicap when the Dick Brabazon-trained Placere took the mile and a half event in runaway fashion.
Owned by Penelope McAuley, who rode in the olympics at Mexico in 1968, and bred by her husband Frank, the four-year-old filly took it up from the front-running Star Power over a furlong out.
She drew right away inside the final furlong to beat last year's winner Paramount by eight lengths with Prince Chaparral a further length and three quarters away in third.
Chicago was withdrawn by order of the stewards as Sarah O'Brien did not make it back in time from France where was watching her sister Ana taking part in an event.
Dick Brabazon said, "She is such a genuine filly and tries so hard. She's improving with every run. We have her swimming to keep her fresh.
"The great thing with Nina is that you don't have to give her orders. This filly's dam didn't win until she was a five-year-old and then she went on to win seven races.
"I said beforehand that if she won this then the obvious race to go for would be the premier fillies handicap back here in September."
