Flynn completes an across the card double
Trainer Pat Flynn and owner Patrick Sweeney completed a nice double when Mon Champion landed the Thalgo Ladies Derby Handicap under a fine ride by Lisa O’Neill.
O’Neill sent the son of Montjeu to the front over a furlong out, and the 11/1 shot stayed on well to hold off last year's winner Taralga by two and a half lengths.
Flynn and Sweeney were on the mark just 15 minutes earlier at Tipperary when Bahrain Storm won the featured Kevin McManus Bookmaker Grimes Grade 3 Hurdle.
It was a first success in Ireland for O'Neill, who got off the mark for her father Tommy at Newton Abbott a couple of weeks ago. The 24 year old is attached to her father's stable, and also rides out for Curragh trainer John McConnell.
