- Flynn & Grant make it two with the Prince
Flynn & Grant make it two with the Prince
Pat Flynn and Danny Grant, earlier individually successful with Final Flashback and Isabellareine combined to double their respective tallies at Tramore when Prince Chaparral made light of top-weight in the Madra Dog Foods Handicap.
As he had done on Isabellareine earlier, Grant gave Prince Chaparral a good front-running ride, asking the 7/4 favourite to raise his effort from the two furlong pole and the High Chaparral gelding had his race won from over a furlong out. He eventually crossed the line four and a half lengths to the good from Quai Du Roi
Flynn remarked of his charge, following up a win at Galway almost a fortnight back: "He is an improving horse and I think he'll be a real good hurdle horse though he won't be one for deep ground.
"He might go for a bigger flat race before then. He is a hell of a talented horse and it's only now that he is coming to himself."
Prince Chaparral was bred and races in the well-known colours of Christy Maye.
