Flight Of Fancy completed a quick double for Aidan O’Brien, Wayne Lordan and the Coolmore partners when readily justifying odds-on favouritism in division two of the Conference & Banqueting At Limerick Racecourse Maiden.
The 94-rated daughter of Galileo held obvious claims in this mile event and the 8/11 shot was prominent throughout before leading over a furlong out.
She quickly asserted under Lordan and kept on well to beat newcomer Newtown Duke who put in some eye-catching work in the closing stages, by a length and three-quarters. Breathe Again was a further two and a quarter lengths back in third.
The same connections were also on the mark in division one of this maiden when newcomer Bomberg obliged at 11/2.
Stable representative Chris Armstrong said, “She had the form in the book coming here and if she ran close to her mark you would have thought she would’ve been very hard to beat.
“The plan was to come here to act as a nice confidence booster and then go to the Cairn Rouge at Killarney in ten days time and try to get the black type.
“This race fitted the schedule nicely. Wayne kept it simple and it worked out lovely.”
