The Eamonn Delany trained Yaha Fizz gained a maiden win at Naas today, winning the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle on his reappearance run, under jockey Ryan Treacy.
The son of Zagreb had previously failed to win in eight starts and today returned in fine health on his first start since June, when making all for a 16/1 win over Like A Demon
Delany’s son Alan Delany later commented “he stayed at it well and he’s a horse we liked all the time - he was just big and weak last year.
“It took a bit of time to get him to settle and we’ve done a lot of work with him over the last few months. He’s settled well, we’ve taken off all the headgear and he stayed out the trip. I just thought he might need the run today but obviously he didn’t.
“There is a good bit more to come I think and when we do go back over fences we have a nice horse. He’s a much more settled horse this year and we’ll have a little bit of fun with him.”
