The Claddagh Heroes Patrick And Morgan Oliver Handicap saw always prominent 4/1 joint favourite Final Endeavour just last home by a head from from Der Mac (10/1).
The unlucky horse was definitely the third home Stellify (4/1 jt fav) who was squeezed between rivals and checked at a vital stage as she was making her move racing out of the dip.
The runner-up was involved in that incident but there was no change to the judge’s placings after an enquiry.
The winner, after three placed runs earlier in the season, had made the breakthrough last week at Fairyhouse and followed up under champion apprentice-elect Gavin Ryan (44th winner of the campaign).
Winning trainer Harry Rogers said: “He (Ryan) was good on him. He slowed it up in front and then he stayed on well because I thought he was beat.
“He’s not bad — he’s a hurdle horse really as he stays.
“It was good to see Lord Erskine (fourth behind Advanced Virgo run well earlier too and hopefully the horses stay going the right way.”
