Eight year old Blankiedoodie (9/1) registered a fifth career win today, and his first at Dundalk, as the John McConnell trained miler landed the DundalkStadium.com Handicap (div I) under jockey Killian Leonard.
The gelding was a six year old when winning for the first time in 2019 and having won mile contests at Listowel, Bellewstown, Thurles and over 1m1f at Gowran, notched his first on the all-weather today, beating 5/4f Clatter Bang by three parts of a length.
Following the race, jockey Leonard said “he’s a pretty straight forward horse and has plenty of experience as an eight-year-old.
“He handles the track well and John left it up to me. If he pops out well he can bowl along and if they are going plenty quick enough you can sit fourth or fifth.
“He relaxed into a lovely rhythm and picked up well when I got a split. He’s tough and his experience came into play today.”
