The Willie Treacy trained Fethard Player landed a gamble to win the Eamon Sheridan Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Ballinrobe today, winning effortlessly under jockey Ian McCarthy.
The son of King's Theatre had been backed from a morning price of 7/1 and from an opening show of 11/2 into 7/2 favourite and duly did the business, easily beating Katys Girl
Fethard based Treacy was unavailable for comment for what was Fethard Player's second career win while jockey McCarthy, who has been kept busy in recent seasons with an average of about 200 rides in the past six campaigns, was recording his third win of the new season.
