"He ran too free in his point to point so we spent time getting him to relax. He seems fairly useful and is the most brilliant jumper you've ever seen,” not surprisingly enthused Noel Meade after his even money favourite Le Martalin took the concluding Kerry Group INH Flat Race at Listowel with consummate ease.
Nina Carberry held the hooded son of Martaline up, but the partnership took closer order halfway.
Le Martalin led going easily over two furlongs out before going on for a fourteen length win over Perfect Leader
"I don't think there's any need for him to run in a winners' bumper and I'll see what Mark (Dwyer, husband of owner Jane Dwyer and former jump jockey) wants to do as he could be sold," added Meade.
Miss K. Harrington, rider of Din Diddle Inn trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her mount disappointed in running and felt distressed thereafter.
