The Paddy Rooney trained Witness Of Fashion followed up his St Stephen's Day win at Down Royal with a New Year's Day success at Fairyhouse today when landing the BoyleSports Irish Grand National March 28th Handicap Chase under jockey Danny Mullins.
Mullins produced Witness Of Fashion to lead on the run-in for a arrow win over Unic De Bersy and afterwards Rooney stated “he's a tough horse and that's three times (he has run) in two weeks and it's a fair testament to the horse.
“He came out of the last race so well I said I'd stick him in a see what the handicapper does and we're close to here as well.
“He kept at it and kept at it and got a great jump at the last - Danny even threw his stick away (dropped his whip the run-in) so he wouldn't win too far!
“He'll get a bit of a break now — I think he deserves it. I'll see what is coming up at the end of the month or the beginning of February. We'll maybe look at the National Trial at Punchestown.”
