Fangio De Vassy (11/2) put some disappointing efforts well-behind him, as he made the breakthrough over flights in the Peter Nolan Bloodstock Maiden Hurdle.

The winner of a point-to-point for Robert Tyner, the French bred son of Racinger ran well on his debut for Henry de Bromhead, before disappointing on his next three starts.

Fitted with cheekpieces for the first time today, the six-year-old was always prominent on the outer under Hugh Morgan.

He was pushed along into a definite lead before the second last and while he jumped right at the last, which had done on occasions throughout, he kept on well when ridden on the run-in, going on to prevail by two lengths.

Macs Charms (3/1) filled the runner-up spot under Brian Hayes for Colm Murphy, while Caesar Rock (11/4fav) was another length-and-a-quarter back in third.

"I'm delighted with that. His owners Robert and Julie (Finnegan) have been really patient with him and I’m delighted for them," de Bromhead commented.

"The cheekpieces sharpened him up a bit, he is just funny jumping hurdles. We bought him from Robert Tyner and his first run for us was great but then he was very disappointing. It’s lovely to get him back in form and hopefully he will keep progressing.

"I’d imagine we will send him on over fences now. I’ll discuss it with Robert and Julie but I think it would be nice to get him out over a fence, he is a fine big horse."
