Awayinthewest rewarded a late market move (20/1 in to 10/1) for his followers at Fairyhouse today when landing the concluding ISF EBF 4YO Fillies Bumper for trainer Pat Fahy and Richie Deegan.
The daughter of Getaway had previously failed to place in four starts but today shaped much better when stretching clear of her rivals in the home straight for an impressive seven and a half lengths win over Classic Theatre
Following the race, Fahy stated “she showed promise in all her bumper runs. That's the first winter ground we've had and both my horses have run well on it today (Castlegrace Paddy finished second in a maiden hurdle).
"She has a bit of a future and reminds me of Storm Gem who won nine races for us (in the late 1990's). She could go for a winners' bumper getting all the allowances."
