English Raider Cityscape lands Group 3
English Raider Cityscape landed the Group 3 Solonaway Stakes at the Curragh in impressive fashion by two-and-a-half lengths for trainer Roger Charlton and jockey Steve Drowne.
The five-year-old son of Selkirk, in the Khalid Abdullah silks, took it up a furlong-and-a-half out and showed his five rivals a clean pair of heels. Aidan O’Brien’s Wild Wind (5/1) set off in pursuit but couldn’t reel the 2/5 favourite in.
Trainer Roger Charlton made the trip over and said: “When you have an odds on favourite you have a bit more pressure.
“He has bashed away at the best horses so I wanted him to win well today. It’s nice to win here. He’s a lovely big horse and loved that ground.
“We’ll find another one for him. He’s in a Group 2 in the Arc weekend.” Across The Rhine picked up third place prize money for Tracey Collins at 16/1.
