Encompassing runs rings around Elsom
The Aidan O'Brien trained Encompassing under a canny ride from Johnny Murtagh, lost his maiden tag in the Spin Southwest Student Raceday Maiden at Limerick today.
Encompassing was carrying plenty of 'baggage' arriving into today's event, having been beaten at odds of 4/6, 4/5 and 7/4 on his three career starts but Murtagh was wise to his ways and held the son of Montjeu up for a late challenge.
Murtagh 'tucked' Encompassing in behind leader Rocky Elsom (1/1f) and waited until inside the final furlong to unleash his challenge, eventually scoring a two and a half lengths win.
O'Brien was not present for the success.
