Emcon records surprise win in bumper

Emcon provided Jane Mangan with a welcome winner when causing a 16/1 shock in the mares bumper at Cork.
Surprisingly Mangan was recording her first winner in nearly four months but showed she’s lost none of her dash, and is still tremendous value for her 3lb claim, with an ultimately convincing victory.
The Willie Austin-trained mare was sent on entering the straight and, with fancied pair Presavita and Pride Of The Braid both weakening well over a furlong out, galloped on strongly to score well.
The daughter of Vinnie Roe was over four lengths clear of Iamtoldiamgrand at the line, with yet another outsider Queens Wild a further six and a half lengths adrift in third.
Austin said, "She is a huge mare and never does any more than she can get away with! She works better on grass and doesn't show a lot on the all-weather (at home).
"I don't suppose she'll go for a winners' bumper and might go back hurdling now."
