Gordon Elliott completed an opening races double at Downpatrick today when his High Net Worth landed the Cheering Rory Handicap Hurdle, to give jockey Kevin Sexton his first winner for the Grand National winning trainer.
Sexton was patient on the son of Oasis Dream, gradually improving in the closing stages before moving to the front on the run-in for a length and a quarter win over The Two Jays
Elliott, earlier successful with Knight's Parade stated “he's a monkey and I'm delighted he did that for Sean (Gallagher, owner) as he's with me a long time.
“Kevin gave him a class ride - he's a very good rider and I'm going to use him a lot this winter. I told him to ride him with balls and he did.”
“It's an important winner as it's my 50th winner over jumps this season between the UK and Ireland and it's my quickest 50.”
