Elliott and Geraghty complete Ballinrobe double
Barry Geraghty and Gordon Elliott completed a double this evening when Grand Opera (4/1) over-turned the 7/2 favourite Flag Of Honour to win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase.
The two market leaders had the race to themselves from a long way out.
The pair battled with one another from the second last with Geraghty just getting the better of the favourite from the last and went on to score by two and a half lengths.
Winning trainer Elliott said afterwards: “He’s not a bad horse and he needs that ground.”
“We will try and win another chase before going for the Galway Hurdle.”
Elliott and Geraghty were on the mark earlier when Cabernet Sauvignon took the opening race on this evening's card.
