Davy Russell is enjoying a memorable August and the Galway Plate winning jockey steered his third winner of the Tramore August festival when again combining successfully with trainer Gordon Elliott, whose Potters Point won the opening EY Chase at the Co Waterford venue.
Russell, who combined with Elliott to win two races yesterday, was recording his ninth winner this month which includes the recent Galway Plate on Balko Des Flos and today steered Potters Point, a son of Robin Des Champs, to a comfortable eight lengths win over Bentelimar
Elliott wasn’t present but his assistant Ian ‘Busty’ Amond later stated “he has been running well all summer and deserved to get his head in front.
“He was entitled to win it on form and hopefully now after getting his head in front it will give him a bit of confidence. Gordon just said today was the plan and we'll see after that."
