Eighteen Summers defies top weight

The Eddie Lynam trained Eighteen Summers defied top weight to win the Ticket Sales Online Apprentice Handicap at Cork today, under retained apprentice jockey Robbie Downey.

The son of Lion Heart went in pursuit of clear leader Angel Of Joy early in the home straight and having passed that rival with a furlong and a half to race, went on to beat Reckless Lad by three lengths.

Lynam wasn't present for his 15th win of the season.
