The Visit Meath 3-y-o Handicap saw Easca Peasca (16s into 12/1) win for the first time on his ninth start.
Placed at Killarney in August and fourth behind previous race winner Paso Doble at Roscommon later that month, the Born To Sea gelding had faded over further last time at Limerick but was given a more patient ride on this occasion.
John Oxx ’s charge, a half-brother to six winners, came through to lead over two furlongs out and went away to score by five lengths from Emerald Green (7/1) with Excuzio Joe (14/1) a further head away in third place. The 4/1 favourite Inside Intel was fifth.
Winning rider Ross Coakley, partnering his seventh winner of the season, said: "He got through that ground well and he’s really coming of age now.
"He’s a typical one of the boss's bringing them along gradually and keep stepping forward.
“That ground probably exaggerates the winning distance but there is plenty of fun to be had with him.”
