Alan Magee
Early market moves
The €80,000 Goffs Thyestes Chase is the highlight at Gowran Park this afternoon but the three mile handicap is a real puzzle for punters with 9/1 the field available if you shop around with the various bookmakers.
However a significant gamble appears to be developing on Adams Island with outsider Bob Lingo also attracting support.
The Paul Nolan-trained Adams Island, with Barry Geraghty an eye-catching booking, is now generally favourite. Ladbokes slashed the gelding this morning from 10/1 into 7/1, while other firms have followed that lead.
Bob Lingo has been supported at much bigger odds. Quotes of 25/1 yesterday are well gone, with Stan James and Coral both now offering the Tom Mullins-trained ten-year-old at just 11/1.
About Alan Magee
Alan has worked in the racing industry for well over 30 years including with the Sporting Life, Turform and Irish Racing Services. He took up his current role as Irish Racing Team Leader with the Press Association in 2013. He has a keen interest in most sports and plays golf.
