Trainer David Marnane is gearing up for a busy 2022 and registered consecutive wins with Freescape at Dundalk today, in the featured €21,000 BetVictor Loyalty Club Handicap.
A winner at the venue on November 19, the white-faced son of Cityscape today battled well for jockey Oisin Orr when scoring a half-length win over Akhlaaq
Marnane later commented “he's improved again. He travelled really well into it but he doesn't kill himself when he gets there.
“There is a 1m2f race for him here in a couple of weeks time and I'd say that's probably his trip so I'd be hoping he runs a good race there.
“We'll have a think about Dubai after that, we'll see what the handicapper does with him.”
Bansha based Marnane has had less runners in recent years but the dual Royal Ascot winning trainer reported he had recently purchased 19 yearlings to race for his newly formed, 50-member Marnane Racing Club.
He said “the Marnane Racing Club is having a launch party in Dubai on January 26th and there is actually an ideal race for Freescape that night so it could all come together nicely.”
