Tory Reel successful over hurdles at Killarney last time, opened his account on the Flat when getting up in the final strides to land division two of the Racing Next At Navan On September 2nd Handicap.
Gavin Ryan was hard at work on the 100/30 chance from a fair way out in this 1m6f event but the son of Highland Reel responded to every call to get up close home and deny Beautiful Chaos by a neck.
The 3/1 favourite Building Bridges was just a neck further back in third with Annecherie completing the places in fourth.
McCarthy said, "He has a lovely Flat mark, he stays very well and he needs that kind of a trip.
“I'm delighted for the syndicate that own him, they are a lovely racing bunch.
“He'll go jumping in Listowel, I'd imagine that will be the plan. We'll have a look at Dundalk for the winter after that.”
