After an earlier feature race win on Sheisdiesel Colin Keane doubled his score in the finale at Dundalk aboard Black Label (11/4 favourite) in the Bar One Racing Cash Back As Cash Handicap.
The success on Sheisdiesel came for Noel Meade, and it was another in-form trainer, Ado McGuinness, that supplied Keane with the spin on Black Label (a visor on instead of blinkers this time).
Not surprisingly at the two mile distance this proved a real war of attrition inside the closing couple of furlongs but Black Label eventually fended off Ringo Kid (a gambled-on 4/1 chance) by three parts of a length.
They drew seven lengths clear of the third home Poitin
“He's a bit of a monkey but I said if he came down here and put his best foot forward tonight he was capable of winning,” said McGuinness.
“He won a maiden down here a few years ago for me. He's going to mix it over hurdles and fences during the summer.
“We'll probably target the north of England with him during the summer months.
“He won around Limerick last year and on that he'd probably win again.
“He was probably a little bit short. Dan (Daly, owner) rode him out at home for a while to give him a change of scenery and we have him back less than four weeks.
“When I saw him kicking turning in I thought he'd blow up but in all fairness he kept going. They went very fast.
“Dan has run three horses here during the winter and they've all won. Chaparral Dream All's Quiet and this lad are the only three he has with me. He's had a good winter.”
