Double for Weld & Smullen as Music scores
The feature race on this evening's card at Roscommon, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap went to Midnight Music completing a double on the card for her trainer Dermot Weld and jockey Pat Smullen (who won the first with Modern Romance .
The 3yo daughter of Dubawi was having just her fifth career start today and her third in handicap company.
Having won her maiden at Navan in October of last year, she made her seasonal reappearance at the Curragh in July, finishing eighth behind Simla Sunset.
She then ran in a handicap at Killarney last time out, where she finished fifth behind Cul A Dun.
Sent off at 10/1, the winner settled in mid-division behind Miranda's Girl who attempted to make all. Running up the straight it looked as if that one had stolen the race but she faded close home as Midnight Music stayed on best to lead inside the final furlong and just hold off 20/1 outsider No Trimmings by a neck.
Hat-trick seeking Ultra Cool who was backed from 11/2 this morning into 3/1 favourite at the off, finished a further length back in third under Danny Benson. Mamma Rosa (10/1) just missed out on a place a head back in fourth for Pat Flynn and Danny Grant with the first four going three lengths clear of the remainder.
