Donoghue off the mark
Sixteen year old conditional jockey Keith Donoghue recorded his first winner at Listowel today, ably taking the Kerry Spring Water Hurdle on the Gordon Elliott trained Nino Cochise
Donoghue, riding in just his fourth race, made all on Nino Cochise, eventually riding the son of High Chapparral out from the last, for a head win over Boulavogue with disappointing 8/15 favourite Fosters Cross in third.
Elliott later stated “Keith is working with me and looks a very good rider. Hopefully he will keep his head down now and will continue progressing as a jockey – he has already ridden 150 flapper winners.”
Elliott added “Nino Cochise may run next in Perth for their final meeting of the season, the week after next.”
