The Pat Doyle Memorial Maiden Hurdle (Div II) went to the always prominent 11/8 favourite Broomfields Jeremy under James O’Sullivan.
The 5-year-old looked vulnerable as Fortune Street (3/1) moved up on his outside on the run to the final flight, but he found more to shrug off that one’s challenge and scored by six and a half lengths in the end. Stoneyford Boy (10/1) kept on into third place, a further eleven lengths away.
The winner was placed in a couple of bumpers and was in front when falling two out on hurdles debut at Roscommon, after which he chased home Malone Road over course and distance a fortnight ago.
It was a first winner of the season for O’Sullivan, who rode five winners last term and whose best season so far was when riding seven winners in 2017/2018.
Winning trainer Philip Dempsey said: “He had good form and we're delighted to get that.
“He bumped into a good one here the last day and he was probably a bit unlucky in Roscommon. He's a nice horse going forward.
“I was a bit afraid with the speed they went down over the first and I was glad to see James (O'Sullivan) taking a pull as they were going a crazy gallop.
“He's a little bit buzzy and that's why we put the hood on him, especially here with the long walk up from the stables.
“We'll see what mark he gets now and could also look at a novice. He's not a slow horse, Luke (Dempsey) rode him here the last day and felt he was a horse that could maybe do something on the Flat towards the back end.”
