Dawson takes his time on Mount Abora
Ray Dawson gave Mount Abora a well-judged ride to come from off the pace to land the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap at Cork for Jacqueline O'Brien and her trainer son Charles.
Mount Abora got into the contest in the final quarter mile and she got the room along the rail when required to in the end score quite convincingly by three parts of a length from favourite Silly Dancer
Dawson is a 17-year-old from Kildare and he is a nephew of well-known bookmaker and owner Luke McMahon. The teenager, gaining his third success here, said: "They went like naz-car racing early-on! I allowed my one to get into a rhythm but I was lucky to get the gaps when I did."
