Danegeld galloped on strongly in the closing stages to open his jumping account in the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Punchestown.
Mike O'Connor produced his mount to challenge, travelling well, turning for home and he hit the front going to the last.
John Morrison 's charge kept on well when asked for an effort in the closing stages to record a four-and-a-half length win over De Bennette
The 7/1 winner had been fourth on his most recent start at Tramore. The eight-year-old's only previous victory came on the Flat in England, for Paul Cole back in February 2015.
O’Connor said:-“That ground takes a lot of getting. I just sat off the pace and his jumping got him most of the way.
“He quickened up really well and it was hands and heels to the line.”
