Dandy Mag quickened up smartly to make a winning Irish debut and give Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh a treble on the card at Gowran Park this afternoon.
Walsh tracked the leaders in the Sea Moon & Shantou At Burgage Stud Maiden Hurdle before sending the 11/10 favourite up to challenge at the second last.
The French import hit the front before the final flight and the result never looked in doubt as he ran on strongly to record a five-and-a-half length win over Lachares
Dandy Mag,who was placed twice on the level in his native land, is a half-brother to star mare Vroum Vroum Mag.
"He handled the ground well. I thought he was going nowhere after the third last, and then when Ruby got daylight he put it to bed quick enough. He's not the biggest horse in the world but he's strong,” said Mullins.
"He's entered in the Triumph Hurdle but I don't know where he will go from here. The way he did that, and better ground and natural improvement who knows what will happen.
"We will enjoy today. He's owned by new clients and it's nice to start them off with a winner. I think he will be suited by better ground."
