Dallas Des Pictons bridged a gap of nearly three years since his previous visit to the winners’ enclosure when causing something of a surprise in the featured Buy Tickets Online At Corkracecourse.ie Hurdle.
The field for this race was reduced to just four with Macgiloney and Streets Of Doyen both scratched doe to a stone bruise, while Stratum was withdrawn by order of the stewards after Willie Mullins’ request to replace the injured Paul Townend by 7lb claimer Kieran Callaghan was not allowed. Ronald Pump was sent off the 2/5 favourite but was headed by the Gordon Elliott-trained winner after a slight mistake two out.
Dallas Des Pictons kept on well on the run-in for Jack Kennedy to reward odds of 13/2 by a-length-and-three-quarters, with Doctor Duffy a further ten lengths adrift in third.
Kennedy said, “It’s been a long time between drinks but he’s a horse with plenty of ability. He’s quirky and does his own thing but it’s nice to get his head back in front today.
“I had enough horse but he’s the type when you go for him he downs tools. I tried something different on him, I pulled out of him and he started going.”
