Donnacha O'Brien kept it simple on board 1/5 favourite Cypress Creek who made every yard in the extended mile and five maiden at Ballinrobe.
Aidan O'Brien 's Galileo colt was shaken up two and a half furlongs out and closed out the race in the final furlong by a length and three parts. Baliyad (5/1) tried in vain to hunt him down but could never get on terms.
Donnacha O'Brien said: "I put him out in front and kept things uncomplicated on him and he was entitled to do that.
"He got a bit of experience and it was his first time around a more complicated track and it was nice to get a win into him.
"I didn't win by half a furlong or anything but he was only doing what he had to do. We won't know how good he is until we step him up."
Cypress Creek had been runner-up in his last couple of appearances in maiden company.
