Critic Rocks home for Roche
Rock Critic followed up on his recent win at Galway when claiming the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap under a fine ride by Leigh Roche.
Promising seven pound claimer Roche did a good job to settle the 8/13 favourite in the early stages.
The duo hit the front entering the straight and kept on close home to hold off the fast finishing Greatwallofchina by half a length.
Winning trainer Weld said afterwards: “I’m glad the line came when it did. He did what we expected him to do.”
“He’s the lead horse for Profound Beauty that’s his main job so you won’t see much of him now as he’ll be busy at home.”
Weld said of Profound Beauty: “She’s in good form and her main aim is the Yorkshire Oaks ground permitting.”
