Cottage Lady Puts Fitzgerald Back on Track
Michael Fitzgerald saddled his first winner since Immediate Response scored at Gowran in November of last year when Cottage Lady caused a 20/1 surprise in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares Maiden Hurdle.
Tommy Treacy 's mount looked booked for second when leader Silver Lily attempted to run out and lost all momentum at the last. Cottage Lady took over soon after and went on to account for Silver Lily (matched at 1/100 on betfair to E12,000) by three and a half lengths.
Fitzgerald said: "That is a bit of a relief. This is a good aul honest mare and she'll be better over further. We have no real plans as such." (EM)
