Jim Bolger's Cool And Clever took the honours in the seven-furlong nursery at Galway.
The Vocalised colt was last seen battling his way to a half-length victory in a maiden at Roscommon in May.
In this assignment, he was ridden to get the better of Capitulation racing into the final furlong and got first run on the closers Snapius and Barud
The 9/2 shot flashed past the post a length and a half up on Snapius (4/1). Barud, 3/1 joint favourite, was a never nearer third a neck further back.
Stable representative Una Manning said: “We're delighted with him. My uncle Paddy owns him, he runs the stud down in Redmondstown, and he hasn't been very well lately so it's nice for him to have a winner.
“I spoke to the boss and he said he'll probably go for another nursery.
“He toughed it out well and it's always nice to have a winner in Galway.”
Cool And Clever began his career with a fourth place in a Cork maiden in April.
