Financial Conduct landed the odds when getting his head in front for the first time in the mile-and-a-half maiden at Dundalk.
Andy Oliver 's charge had been in the money on his previous three starts on the all-weather surface, including when chasing home stable-mate Play It Cool last time.
He went to post a 4/7 shot, following the withdrawal of Tower Bridge this morning, and tracked the leaders under Shane Foley.
The Harbour Watch gelding was sent into the lead two furlongs from home and despite running around slightly under pressure he always looked in command in the closing stages as he beat 66/1 shot Bobeska by three-parts of a length.
“He thoroughly deserved it as he’s run very well in defeat,” said Oliver.
“He was probably unlucky as he blew up the first time, then got into trouble and then got left in front and was done late on. Shane said he’s still green enough in front and wandered a bit.
“He’s a big horse that’s improving and is certainly putting on weight which is a good sign. We love him at home, and hopefully he’ll go on from here.
“He’ll probably be put away for a while now as I don’t think there is anything for him. I haven’t totally finalised that and will have a good look at the calendar.”
